Summary of the Second Scientific Symposium at the Mediterranean Marine and Coastal Biodiversity Conference
On Sunday, February 9, 2025, the second scientific symposium was held on the sidelines of the Mediterranean Marine and Coastal Biodiversity Conference at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Omar Al-Mukhtar University, Al-Bayda City. The symposium featured key figures including the Head of the Preparatory Committee, Prof. Ismail Al-Shaqman, the Head of the Scientific Committee, Prof. Khaled Al-Tayeb, and several committee members, as well as deans from Omar Al-Mukhtar University and environmental experts.
The symposium ended with a discussion session, featuring Mr. Saleh Bourzeiga (Life Organization for the Protection of Marine and Wildlife, Derna) and Mr. Azzo Al-Nasr Abziyo (Marine Life Organization, Derna), who discussed the winter bird census, their migration, nesting, and their role in marine biodiversity conservation. The symposium concluded with recommendations from Prof. Khaled Al-Tayeb for policymakers, which will be integrated into the upcoming Mediterranean Marine and Coastal Biodiversity Conference.
