Celebrating International Day for Biological Diversity

In a distinguished scientific atmosphere, the Libyan Association for Friends of Artisanal Fishing, in collaboration with the Department of Zoology at the Faculty of Science, University of Tripoli, hosted a special event to celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity. The gathering underscored the vital importance of preserving biodiversity and supporting national efforts to protect ecosystems, with a particular focus on marine environments. The event brought together a prominent group of academics, researchers, and environmental advocates. The program featured insightful speeches and awareness-raising lectures highlighting the crucial role of biodiversity in maintaining ecological balance and achieving sustainable development.

Forging Strategic Partnerships for Sustainability

A key highlight of the celebration was the formal signing of joint cooperation agreements aimed at boosting scientific research and environmental action. The Libyan Association for Friends of Artisanal Fishing signed partnerships with:

  • Al-Saraya Al-Hamra University
  • The Libyan Center for Climate Change Research

These agreements are designed to strengthen scientific and research cooperation, support initiatives dedicated to marine conservation, protect biodiversity, and address climate change challenges.

This milestone reflects a shared commitment to building strong bridges between academic institutions, research centers, and civil society organizations. Together, these partnerships aim to raise environmental awareness and foster collective action for a more sustainable future for Libya’s environment.
